In-Between

In this series, artist frame his contemporary characters within the tradition of religious iconography of northern Europe. Their covered eyes, gazes that are lowered or behold the horizon, their pliant bodies, point to an incident – an incident that has taken place and whose consequences are yet to come to light. The grey of the sky gives the landscape an alien character, as if none of the figures belong to it and they are in transit. The choice of the title “In-Between” seems to emphasize this sense of being on the threshold, “They are just one step from the Fall and the faceless figures are only observers.” The viewer, too, is invited to wait alongside the characters for an unknown eventuality.
